There has been a church on this site since the 11th century and was mentioned in the Domesday book, but the present church is dated to the 15th century. The tower contain eight bells and its elborate spire was added in the fifteenth century. The font you see to the right is possibly from an earlier church but the wooden cover was added in the 17th century.The main tomb you see is that of Sir Thomas Lovell and his wife Dame Alice Lovell who died in 1604 and 1602 respctively. The tomb to the left is of Sir Rbert Herling who died in 1435, His wife was added at a later date. |
